I just wanted to send you a little inspiration and remind you that making yourself a priority in life isn’t selfish, it’s about acceptance and turning dark into light.
Why is it so difficult for us to practice self love? Is it because seeing our flaws come easiest? Is it because society makes it difficult for us to remember what beauty is? Or is it because we choose not to focus on ourselves simply because of fear? Why are we so hard on ourselves? Why is it so hard for us to give ourselves a compliment?
Life is about making it our own and living it to our fullest — spreading positivity and love. Not about insecurities and self doubt. It can be as simple as going for a walk or buying yourself flowers, to reciting a word or a sentence in the mirror.
Here are a few ways that I like to practice self love:
Gratitude: When you’re feeling down or uncertain, take a step back and breathe. Realize how far you’ve come. Acknowledge the roadblocks and keep pushing for where you want to be. Be proud of how far you’ve come and the lessons you’ve learned.
Explore: Go for a walk, try something new, read a book. Do something that you’ve always wanted to do. Get into nature, who knows, you may even get inspired!
Meditate: Sometimes we have all of these repressed feelings leaving us feeling heavy. Clear your brain. Feel all of the feels and work through them. Working out the kinks makes you stronger and allows you to be your best self.
Love notes: Write yourself a love note. Write down everything you love about yourself and why you’re such a badass Bossbabe. Or maybe you start off simple by writing down one thing you love about yourself and then you work your way up. Tell yourself what you’re proud of, pump your own tires!
Listen To Your Body: Notice when your body is craving some down time. Take a bath, light some candles, listen to some music. Go get your hair done, get a mani and a pedi, get your makeup done. Pamper yourself, you deserve it! Or maybe you need to stay on the couch all day and binge watch your favorite TV show or have a movie marathon, who cares, do it for you!
Forgiveness: Forgive yourself for the negative thoughts that come up. Remind yourself that no one is perfect, we’re constantly growing and learning. Making mistakes and learning lessons are a part of life and frankly, if you’re not making any mistakes, then how are you growing?
Smile: Smiling and laughing is the best medicine– especially laughing at your own jokes, be sure to do this daily, doctors orders! Don’t take life so seriously.
Affirmations: Look at yourself in the mirror and say something that you love about yourself. This one might feel a bit weird but it will go along way. Some people get nervous or afraid to be honest with themselves and by looking at yourself in the mirror you’re forcing yourself to be vulnerable. Saying words such as beautiful, strong or saying a sentence like I am brave, I am strong can help you alter your subconscious from negative and turn it into positive. Affirmations help you shift your mindset. So pause, look at yourself in the mirror, breathe and say what you need to say. Maybe it starts off negative but catch yourself and give yourself some credit! After time you’ll notice that you’ll have a lot more positive things to say than negative.
Once you start changing your mindset and shining light, you start believing in yourself and gain confidence. Never underestimate yourself. Give yourself time and space, feel all that you need to feel and be open and honest along the way. Once you realize that self love is a powerful tool and a necessity in life, you’ll start to see a change in how you view yourself. You start to understand that no one is in charge of how you feel but you.
What inspires you? What is it that you need in order to succeed? How can you get yourself there? Listen to yourself, dig deep! Remember, you can be that Bossbabe that you secretly want to be! No one is you and that is your power.
Shout out to all of the girls trying to be themselves in a society that’s constantly telling them not to.
